Monday, February 5, marked the 100th day of school at JCS, and students across the district had fun celebrating this exciting milestone! Many dressed up as 100-year-old centenarians, while South Jefferson Elementary students took a different path, celebrating the theme “We Are 100 Days Brighter” by wearing neon or otherwise brightly colored clothes. Check out some of the creativity on display in the images below!
Congratulations to Mathew Tuitele for his Positive Principal Referral. Mathew was recognized for always being so kind, respectful and a leader each day! Thank you, Mathew, for modeling the expectations of our school! 💜💛
Ms. Mahoney
As a culminating activity to finish up their study of electricity, Ms. Slagle’s 4th grade students created circuits that they could take home and share with their families. Each student was working to complete a working series and parallel circuit while practicing related vocabulary terms including resistor, transfer, conductor, and insulator. Well done! 🗳️⚡️🔌🔋
Enjoy February's Roadrunner Tracks! 💜

JANUARY 31, 2024: We would like to provide an update on an external threat reported this morning. Working with our partners in law enforcement, Jefferson County Schools has learned that no credible threat existed to the communities of North Jefferson Elementary School, T.A. Lowery Elementary School, Wildwood Middle School, or Jefferson High School. Upon being detained, law enforcement determined that the suspect in question was training for the U.S. armed forces while wearing a weight belt and did not threaten any of our school communities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Can you believe we’ve almost made it to our 100th Day of school???
On Monday, February 5th, we will celebrate our theme, “We Are 100 Days Brighter” by asking everyone to wear neon, or bright colors. Let’s shine bright on our 100th Day! 🥳
We are also challenging everyone to bring canned goods or food items to donate to Community Ministries. Our goal is for each class to work towards the goal of donating 100 items/class towards our annual food drive. Which class and grade level is going to donate the most?? 🤔
What an awesome day for our South Jefferson Mathletes at the Jefferson County Math Field Day competition! Our 4th grade team earned the top spot of 1st place and our 5th grade team captured 2nd place in the County, with two members of our 4th grade team also placing individually—Henry Solich came in 1st place and Grant Koch was named as 2nd alternate. To say our school community is proud is an understatement! A huge thank you to Math Field Day coaches, Ms. Slagle and Mr. Collins!

Ms. Horne's Kindergarten class celebrated the completion of their Kings and Queens unit by having a Prince and Princess Day. Students dressed as their favorite prince and princess and each student participated in a crowning ceremony, receiving their official titles. Even Ms. Mahoney and Mrs. Jenkins received a crown and official title. Students made castles, prince/ princess bag puppets and decorated their own crowns. The class finished the day of fun with an afternoon tea. 👑👸🏽🤴🏻🏰🫖
