The last day of school is always filled with so many emotions. I want to thank all of our caregivers for your support, your volunteer hours, your encouragement, your care and for trusting us with your most valued treasures. I wish our fifth graders the very best as they move on to the next part of their journey and I look forward to seeing all of those adorable faces returning in August! #RoadrunnersForever #SJESRocks Ms. Mahoney

Judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces, we should have called yesterday’s event FUN Day instead of Field Day! Thank you to the staff members and our volunteers, who worked so hard to pull this day together for our students. Shout out to Jeff Co Parks & Rec for providing some fun games for us, as well! It was AWESOME!

I love it when a plan comes together! Our art educator, Mrs. Fiolek, along with the 2nd grade team, helped our second graders create superhero drawings of themselves, complete with special powers or items. Those drawings were sent to WHS teacher, Kathy Magaha, who assisted her Fashion Class students to bring those drawings to life. Today, the WHS students presented the superheroes to the 2nd graders and had lunch with us. The students also created stories about their superheroes with their new WHS friends. This exemplifies teamwork, collaboration, caring and kindness—-all wonderful things to share! Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. You’ve made so many second graders happy today! They will never forget this experience! 💛😁💜

Our 4th graders created posters about "Agriculture in West Virginia" as part of a poster contest sponsored by the WV Farm Bureau, to gain awareness and a better understanding of the role of agriculture in our society. Our very own, Juliana Yulfo, placed 2nd in the County! Well done, Juliana!

How cool that we have this special place so close to our school—-students learning in nature?? Yes, please! Thank you, Potomac Audubon Society for sharing this beautiful learning space with our students!

South Jefferson celebrated Earth Day this week in grand style. Thanks to Ms. Horne, who was awarded a grant from PlanetBee, every student was given the materials to create seed balls (placing seeds and planting materials in clay). Many planted their flowers on the trail surrounding the school, while others chose to take them home for planting. Ms. Horne’s students planted grass seed on their own “plots of land” surrounding their new homes. Mrs. Moody taught our students about bees and pollination in the Library. Mrs. Fincham’s class had a visit from a duckling friend, after finishing their unit on animal life cycles. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate our beautiful earth! 🌎 ☀️🪻🪴🐥 #EverydayIsEarthDay

When it comes to school spirit and someone who will go to any lengths to promote his cause, Mr. Atkins is pretty tough to beat. 😉 (Maybe we should have a Mime Day at SJES??? 🤔 It WAS awfully quiet in the front hall this morning! 😂) #2DaysLeftToPurchaseTixForTheDance
