Congratulations to third-grader, Max Blake, for his Positive Principal Referral. Max was nominated by Mrs. Mangum for treating a fellow classmate with patience, kindness and support. Max is a fantastic example of the type of role model that we love to have at SJES! Awesome work, Max! 🌟 Ms. Mahoney

Congratulations to Bryce Ashlock for his Positive Principal Referral. Miss Potts nominated Bryce because she noticed he was picking up paper towels off of the floor. She said that he is “always mannerly and kind”. Bryce, you are EXACTLY the type of student we love to have at SJES! Thank you for being such an amazing excellent role model! 💛💜 Ms. Mahoney

More than anything else, kindness matters and will change the world. Mrs. Sunday’s class decided to take on the Kindness Challenge and do something for someone else (besides friends and family). I’m so proud of them for spreading such warmth into our community. Well done! #KindnessIsContagious #KindnessIsFree #KindnessInAction 💜💛 Ms. Mahoney

Thank you to Tahlia Underwood, Holden Leach and Brayden Braithwaite for helping us decorate the United Bank Christmas tree. It is always such a fun tradition for our students to create ornaments for the tree and for fourth grade students to be chosen to decorate the tree. Thank you to Mrs. Dodson for assisting! Well done, everyone! 🎄 Ms. Mahoney

Our bus drivers are such an important and special part of our South Jefferson family. They are the first smile of the morning, to start the school day off on the right foot, and they are the listening ear for students who have a story to share or need a little extra attention. They make sure that our students arrive to school safely and they bring them home each day with tender loving care. I watch them greet their students by name as they depart or enter the bus each day, taking the time to establish relationships and fist bump or high five each student as they leave their bus. Our SJES family lost one of the most caring and kindest drivers this week, “Mr. Fitz” (Fitzgerald Cody), the driver of Bus #31. He always was quick with a “good morning” and his smile lit up that entire bus cab. He always was in good spirits and it was obvious that he loved his work and his small passengers loved him. We send our condolences to his family and friends. Thank you for the smiles, Mr. Fitz. You will be missed. 💜💛 Ms. Mahoney

We want to give a huge shoutout to our substitute teachers and service personnel on Substitute Educators Day! These members of our JCS community play a crucial role in the continuity of daily education by stepping in at a moment's notice to provide school or district-wide coverage wherever it's most needed. They are talented and adaptable individuals who are relied upon by administrators, teachers, and students. We're so grateful to all our subs for their important contributions to our educational community. Thank you! Interested in subbing for JCS? Service Spotlight American Education Week
As American Education Week continues, we're proud to acknowledge the vital role families and the greater community play in the lives of our students. To that end, South Jefferson Elementary School celebrated #AEW23 with Career Day. Members of the SJE community talked to students about their jobs, including Bud Herndon, a fire investigator and K9 handler, who brought along a furry friend! 🦮🐾 Other professions represented included law enforcement, farming, commercial photography, engineering, HVAC repair, data analytics, financial services, massage therapy, the sciences, and different branches of the U.S. military. Thank you to everyone who participated for taking this time to support our students and their education!
