Our school is now equipped with our Safety Patrol students! The 13 fifth graders have various duties and responsibilities that rotate each week. Core responsibilities include wearing safety gear, arrive to the assigned post on time both in the morning and afternoon, and guide and direct students in the hallway and out at the car rider and bus zones.
These 13 students were chosen due to their good school citizenship, naturally modeling positive behaviors, while also being courteous to everyone. Students filled out applications, as they would when applying for a job, and were then notified they had been accepted. Chief Gillenwater helped train our safety patrollers in rising and lowering the American flag, as well as folding it at the end of the school day.
We are so proud of these students as they prove to be excellent role models for the SJES community!
