She taught both third and fifth grade before obtaining her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Shepherd University in 2006 and then her Administration certification from West Virginia University in 2007. Ms. Mahoney stepped into the role of Assistant Principal in 2008 and then Principal in 2018. When asked about her job at South Jefferson, she states, "Every morning, when I walk through the doors of South Jefferson, I feel a sense of pride and love for the job that I do. I look at each student and staff member as an extended part of my family and I feel that I am blessed to be a part of South Jefferson Elementary and the community that supports us each day".
