The 4th grade SJES students explored our Bull Run watershed at Cool Springs Preserve. They were tasked with looking for macro invertebrates and identifying them using a diagram. Groups were also challenged to create a water filter to clean up the "pollution" in the water using only nature items.
Students were also given the opportunity to gather water from the run and test the temperature, pH levels and dissolved oxygen levels. They used their findings to grade our watershed. It was unanimous that our watershed was very healthy and deserved an A++!
Way to go 4th graders! And a HUGE thank you to the Potomac Valley Audubon Society for investing the time and knowledge to the next generation of environmental leaders.
