South Jefferson Elementary School recently received a $300 grant from the Friends of Music to purchase Music-Go-Rounds™ manipulatives for its general music classes, thanks to a request by music teacher Pamela Shearer.
Music-Go-Rounds™ are silicone circles and rectangles that help students learn musical concepts like tempo, rhythm, pitch, and melody. The pieces can be used on whiteboards or passed around in group activities, making music learning more interactive and fun.
“Our third graders loved using the new kits to create and notate music,” Ms. Shearer said. “This grant has brought a fresh layer of creativity to our classroom, and I’m excited to see what our upper-grade students will create!”
The grant is part of Shepherdstown nonprofit group's annual program to support music education in our schools. For more information, visit www.friends.wv.org.
