We are sharing in a "December to Remember" with our staff and students this year and bringing some fun to the halls of South Jefferson. We hope that you will encourage your children to participate!
Thursday, December 8th: A Winter Wonderland White Out----wear all white, from head to toe, in the hopes of bringing snow days our way! See how creative you can be----want to wear a snowman sweatshirt or shirt instead? That's fine, too! There's no day like a snow day!
Friday, December 9th: Flannel Friday! Wear flannel and be cozy and warm all day long. Want to go the extra mile?? Rock those cowboy boots and do-si-do into the weekend!
Wednesday, December 14th: Tree Topper Day----wear your reindeer antlers, your Santa hat, your candy cane headband or your elf ears today.
Thursday, December 15th: Wear your favorite snuggly scarf today!
Tuesday, December 20th: It's a tootsies Tuesday! Wear the wildest holiday socks you can find and step into the day in style!
Wednesday, December 21st: PAJAMA DAY at SJ! Everyone is getting super ready for the Winter Break...come prepared to prepare for winter in your warmest pjs today!
Thursday, December 22nd (Two hour early dismissal for students): The day to end all days in a "December to Remember"....this is the day to put on your most colorful holiday wear---sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, socks, headwear, etc. Bring on the tackiest sweater you've got! We'll see who has the most imagination and spirit of fun in the building!
Hope you can participate! Let's see if we can find which grade level has the most "school spirit" in the building?!
Ms. Mahoney

We had a lot of fun decorating the United Bank Christmas tree this year. Our students and staff created many beautiful ornaments and the bank employees loved watching our creative students work their magic! Thank you to Carly Moody, Aeryn Keysor, Haley Salyards, Colton Ballenger and Mrs. Moody for their hard work! Awesome!

Kindergarten classes shared a lesson with Mrs. Johnson, our 4-H Youth Development Agent (and awesome SJES parent!), about the power of handwashing against germs. The students were able to use a UV light to show them where germs were located on their hands AFTER handwashing. A powerful reminder for us all! Thank you, Mrs. Johnson!

Our fifth graders put the scientific method into action by designing and creating structures for a grade level egg drop experiment. Each group had to construct a container to protect the egg when they dropped them, choosing from a variety of materials. They pre-planned their build, predicted what would happen and then made drawings based on their predictions. Each team had to make adjustments, based on the outcome of the egg drop. Thank you to Mrs. Kinder for supervising this fun event!

National Special Education Day commemorates the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law in 1975, granting children with special needs access to free and quality public education. Today we recognize and celebrate our incredible special education community at JCS with a heartfelt THANK YOU to the teachers and aides who serve some of our most exceptional learners. 💙💛💙💛

Our safety patrols learned about the proper handling and folding of the flags today with Chief Master Sgt. Gillenwater. Next step: morning and afternoon flag duties. 🇺🇸

Happy Thanksgiving to our JCS community! We remain grateful for the privilege of serving your children.

Kindergarten students Kinzi Leslie, Eva Huse and Trey Dell received Positive Principal Referrals for being helpful and mannerly students and for helping to keep our cafeteria clean. All three students are exceptional role models for all SJES students. Super proud of these three! 💜

Congratulations to Aubrey Vale and Dylan Michaels for receiving Positive Principal Referrals. Both students helped out their friends and showed kindness to others! Way to go, Aubrey and Dylan! 💜
