Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day!!!! Don’t forget to thank your bus driver today for transporting your children safely to school and home each day!!
We LOVE our South Jefferson bus drivers!!!

Fun in the STEAM lab today with 3rd Grade! The students had to construct a chariot and guide it through a maze, using an iPad and their ingenuity! They had a blast! Thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for creating a fun day for them! 🎉💜

A South Jefferson tradition that we really missed during the pandemic? Learning buddies! Primary grade classes team up with intermediate classes, meeting weekly, to share reading, math, writing, science or creative activities together. Our younger students enjoy “hanging with the big kids” and showcasing their learning and our older students are able to build confidence and take on the role of a “teacher” during the sharing time. It’s a win/win for all!
We’re showcasing Mrs. Kinder’s 5th grade and Mrs. Sturba’s 2nd grade classes today!

What do you do on a dreary, rainy day??? Well, if you’re in Mrs. Zimmerman’s kindergarten class, you use your lantern to read your decodable reader and then illustrate and write a phrase about your favorite part of the reader!
What a creative and fun way to learn! Well done, kindergarten! 💜💡

Congratulations to Korbyn Bebee for being nominated for a Positive Principal Referral! Korbyn is always cheering on and encouraging his classmates and showing compassion for others. What an awesome example for all of us at SJES, Korbyn!

Mrs. Fincham's 2nd grade class incorporated math into their Valentine's Day celebration, playing fun games with candy hearts! 💜

Many thanks to Mrs. Johnson, who brought an amazing STEAM lesson to SJES! Our second graders made battle bot robots and had to see which one stayed upright the longest as they battled to knock each other’s over, using sphero balls. They loved it!!! 💜🤖

Mrs. Fox’s Kindergarten class took advantage of the beautiful weather today and played Knock Out- Addition Edition! Students threw the dice and had to total what the two dice landed on. First to yell the answer wins! Fun!!!

Congratulations to our SJES Math Field Day teams for representing our school and giving 100% today at the Jefferson County Math Field Day competition. Our 5th grade team (Tyson Stuntz, Maddie Kline, Noah Sunday and Natalie Leach) placed 2nd place in the County, with Maddie placing individually and moving on to the Regional competition. Our fourth grade team (Troy Fultz, Lizzy Tuitele, Andrew Vigil and Jackson Williams) were neck-in-neck to place and represented us well! Super proud of both teams and our coaches, Mr. Collins and Ms. Slagle.

Congratulations to fifth grader, Tyson Stuntz, for earning a Positive Office Referral. Tyson saw that the hallway was a mess after recess with students tracking mud in from the playground (if you know, you know!). He took it upon himself to sweep the hallway at dismissal, as well as a fifth grade classroom! Well done, Tyson! We are super proud that you are a SJES Roadrunner!

Congratulations to Hunter Micelli and Damien O’Banion for their Positive Principal Referral nominations. Damien was nominated for challenging himself in math and “asking for extra work” to hone his skills in math. Hunter was nominated for always helping out in the classroom “on his own” and supporting his classmates and teacher. Both excellent role models for all of us at South Jefferson! Well done, gentlemen!

What a great day for South Jefferson at the Jefferson County Science Fair! Our students represented us well and did a phenomenal job in creating and presenting their projects. This was the first year that elementary students were invited to present at the County level. We placed from Honorable Mention to First Place in multiple categories and some will move on to the Regional Fair in a few weeks! Well done, South Jefferson! I am very proud of you and your accomplishments!
